Jonathan van Gesselleen


Born and raised in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, Jonathan matriculated at Paul Roos Gymnasium, where his passion for the law started to develop. He obtained his BCom and LLB degrees from Stellenbosch University. Jonathan joined DKVG in 2015 as a Candidate Attorney, and was admitted as an Attorney with right of appearance in the High Court in 2018. He became a Director in 2023.

Jonathan specialises in High Court litigation, contract law, education law, and matrimonial and family law. He has extensive experience in foreclosures and administrative tribunals. Jonathan’s clients range from large financial institutions and prominent schools to private individuals. In addition to his work as a litigator, he is a respected mentor and leader within the firm. Jonathan takes great pride in helping young lawyers develop their skills and grow into successful legal professionals.

Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family and is a keen road cyclist and mountain biker. Having competed at an international level, he is now involved in assisting with the development of young aspiring cyclists at primary school level.
